Hola!! Well......we arrived safe and sound, have survived the CRAZY driving here, and survived our first day of clinic! We had people waiting outside for us before we even arrived and saw a total of 72 patients in our first day--a new record for Mercy Clinic! We are so blessed in the States and I think we are all missing all our access to the best meds and health care. It is frustrating to not treat the diabetes in a woman who is 100 years old and a sugar of over 500 and is on no meds. She came today because of a sore foot, and that we treated, but she has no acces or $$ for diabetic meds. We ran out of antibiotics halfway through the day and are trying to purchase some more. You can get anything here with no prescription except narcotics. I could walk into a pharmacy and buy 500 Amoxicillin tablets with no Rx---CRAZY!! (Did I mention the driving is CRAZY also????? Oh yeah--I did!) I think everyone who came is being touched in different ways--some tears, some laughs and lots of hard work--enjoy the pics and we wish we could have brought the whole ER with us!
